Epic Adventure

A challenge that will see us row 3200 Miles west from Marina Rubicon in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, until we reach our final destination, The Jolly Harbour in Antigua.

The challenge begins when the team arrive in Marina Rubicon in December 2023 to begin their final preparations of the boat and conduct their final training sessions. The atmosphere will be electric as the team prepare for the epic challenge that’s to come!

The objective – to take on the unique experience of crossing an ocean in a rowing boat and raise vital funds for our chosen charities!

Challenge Facts

Every year, people achieve great feats of physical and mental endurance, displaying the possibilities of what the human body and mind are capable of. Each year, Ocean Rowing Crews create new stories and set new records, from record charity fundraising targets being achieved, to fastest crossing records. Below are some facts relating to our specific crossing.

  • The team will row in excess of 1.5 million oar strokes during the crossing.
  • The fastest crew to finish the 2023 Atlantic Dash were team ‘Cabbies Do Atlantic Row’ with a time of 59 days, 15 hours and 8 minutes.
  • The fastest Crew of 4 to row across the South Atlantic was achieved in 29 Days, 15 Hours.
  • In areas the ocean can be up to 8,605m deep.
  • Rowers can battle waves up to 60ft high.
  • More people have climbed mount Everest than have rowed across an ocean.
  • Temperatures can reach up to 40 degrees.
  • Rowers can expect to burn in excess of 4500 calories per day.
  • At the half way point you are closer to someone in space than on land.
  • Rowers will loose between 8-12kg of body weight during the crossing.
